Deliberately lit house fire

Approximately 8pm on Thursday 9th August 2012, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were notified of a house fire at Scott Road, Bridgewater.

Police and Tasmania Fire Service attended the scene and closed a section of Scott Road for protection of the public. The house valued at approximately $250,000 was destroyed by fire.  The residence is owned by Housing Tasmania and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

An investigation revealed that the fire was deliberately lit and Tasmania Police request that any person who may have information in relation to this fire contact Bellerive CIB (03) 62302685 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 

Members of the public are reminded that Housing Tasmania offer a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to a conviction.

This arson is the second deliberate house fire in the area in the past three days.  It is particularly concerning when Housing Tasmania properties are in high demand.
