Launceston CIB is seeking assistance from the community in relation to a report of a firearms incident in Newnham this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jonathan Higgins said that police were called to an address in Viewbank Road this morning at about 5am to a reported discharge of a firearm in the street.

It was later determined that a house had been shot at, with some damage to two of the windows.

The occupant was home asleep at the time and was not injured.

Police are investigating the report and would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident.
