At approximately 2.30pm today a man aged approximately 50 years old was arrested after committing numerous driving offences and then setting fire to his vehicle in a vacant block.

At the time a film crew was at a residence in Anne Street filming a documentary and the male person was attempting to become involved.

The man was arrested by local police and a breath analysis was conducted at the George Town Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.185.  He is being charged with drink driving offences and offences under the anti-hooning legislation.  He has also been disqualified from driving for 12 months.

George Town Police would like to speak with anyone that witnessed the incident.
