Stolen pistols recovered

Police have recovered the two pistols stolen from the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery on the 4th October this year.

The two pistols were discovered buried at a location just outside of Launceston.  Investigations are continuing and it’s not appropriate to release further details about the location at this time.

The search was one of eight conducted in relation to the theft over the last seven days with police utilising a metal detector during some of the searches.

At this stage no charges have been laid in relation to the recovery of the two pistols.

A 22 year old Ravenswood man has been charged in relation to an unregistered and illegally shortened .410 shotgun recovered in one of the other searches.  He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

No claim has been made in relation to the $5000 reward offered by the Launceston City Council.
