Charges over fountain vandalism

6 people have been interviewed by Hobart Police and will face charges following a recent vandalism attack on the Hobart Railway Roundabout Fountain.

• An 18 year old man from Midway Point will be summonsed for ‘Commit a Nuisance’ and ‘Destroying Property’;

• A 28 year old woman from Bellerive, a 20 year old man from Lenah Valley, and a 19 year old man from Bellerive will be summonsed for ‘Commit a Nuisance’;

• Two 17 year old youths from Margate and Moonah will be proceeded against under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Acting Inspector Adam Mollineaux of Hobart Police thanked members of the public for their assistance with information.

“The Railway Roundabout Fountain is a Hobart icon and this incident caused considerable public interest.  The message is clear to those who engage in this sort of behaviour, that it will not be tolerated,” Acting Inspector Mollineaux said.
