Serious single vehicle crash Tollard Drive, Rokeby

Two Rokeby women (aged 53 and 36) are in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition after being struck by a motor vehicle on Tollard Drive, Rokeby about 10.50am on Tuesday 29th October 2013.

The two women and a dog were walking along the western footpath in a southerly direction.  At this time a black Hyundai hatch being driven by a 64 year old woman also from Rokeby was travelling along Tollard Drive in a southerly direction.

The black Hyundai has veered to the incorrect side of the road up onto the footpath colliding with the pedestrians and the dog.  The vehicle came to rest against an Aurora pole.  The injured pedestrians were conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital by road ambulance.  They are both in a serious but stable condition.

The dog was conveyed to a nearby veterinary clinic for treatment.  The driver was also conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital for observation.
