Ravenswood House Fires appeal for information

Detectives from Launceston CIB are appealing for information about deliberately lit fires in Housing Tasmania properties in Ravenswood.

The appeal comes as a result of fresh information that has led to a specific line of investigation.

“This new information has provided us with a previously unidentified line of enquiry,” Detective Sergeant Peter Roberts said.  “We are again asking any person that may have information regarding the people responsible for these fires to contact us,” he said.

There have been a number of deliberately lit house fires in Ravenswood in recent times.  While these fires have a significant monetary value, they also have a significant impact on the community at large, in particular residents living within the Ravenswood area.

Since May 2012 there have been eight deliberately lit house fires in the units at Pioneer Parade, in Ravenswood.  The replacement cost is approximately $190,000 each.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Launceston CIB on 6336 3828.  All information will be treated confidentially.
