Queen Street Assault – Attempted Murder Charge

Last night Detectives charged a 61 year old man with the attempted murder of a 52 year old man at a house in Queen Street, Sandy Bay, on Sunday night.

“Police allege that the man struck the victim about the head with a press iron during an altercation inside the house on Sunday night” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel.

“The assault was particularly vicious and investigators would like to thank those members of the local community who have come forward with information that has helped police make an arrest.

“The man was detained in custody and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today,” he said.

The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Detectives and Forensic personnel worked through the night and will continue investigations over coming days.
