Ice Seizure – Launceston Airport

On Friday 24 October 2014 as a result of information received members of the Northern Drug Investigation Services attended the Launceston Airport and conducted searches of two people who had recently arrived on a flight from Melbourne.

As a result of the search police located approximately 500 grams of methyl-amphetamine (ICE) taped to the body of a 22 year old woman. She was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance.

It will be alleged the ICE would have had a street value of $500,000.

A 40 year old man was also arrested on outstanding warrants.

Both people live in Melbourne and appeared in an after-hours court. They were remanded in custody until Monday 27/10/14 at 11.30am.

Detective Inspector FLUDE will conduct a media interview at 3pm today at Launceston Police HQ.
