Assault and Firearm Incident in Longford 17/01/2015

At approximately 11:45am on Saturday 17 January 2015, a disturbance occurred at a residence in Laycock Street, Longford.

Three males on motorcycles approached the address where an altercation occurred and a male occupant was assaulted.

A family member of the victim intervened at which point a silver Holden Commodore drove past slowly with the driver allegedly pointing a firearm out of the window at the occupants of the address. The driver is described as male, in his 50’s with greyish coloured hair.

The victim of the assault was treated at the LGH for minor injuries.

Detectives from the Northern CIB later interviewed a 30 year old male from Newnham and as a result he was charged with assault, breach of bail conditions and drug related offences. He appeared in an after-hours court sitting where he was remanded in custody to re-appear at 2.15pm on Monday 18th January 2015 in the Launceston Magistrates Court.
