The Tasmania Police Charity Trust was established in December 2006, to provide the opportunity for police officers and State Service Employees of the Department of Police and Emergency Management to work together towards a common goal of fundraising to support nominated charities within the State.

The Department has a long and proud history of supporting charities. It is imperative that this commitment is nurtured and encouraged, and that money raised will go to the right area to do the most good in the Tasmanian community.

A process has been established to ensure that each event receives recognition and that there is auditable registration. Under the Constitution, the public officers that represent the Trust include:

  • Acting Chair – Acting Commissioner D Hine
  • Acting Deputy Chair – Acting Deputy Commissioner S Tilyard
  • Treasurer - Mr S Wilson-Haffenden, Corporate Services
  • Secretary - Ms A Jacobson, Corporate Services
  • Public Officer - Mr M Miller, Legal Services
  • Member - Senior Sergeant John Parker, Northern District
  • Member - Sergeant Fiona Smith, Western District
  • Member – Constable Leigh Devine, Southern District
  • Member - Senator Stephen Parry
  • Member – Ms Jean Henley

The Charity Trust has been very active since its establishment with funds raised for various charities, individuals and specific events throughout the State.
