Police Charity Trust Donation to Down Syndrome Association of Tasmania

The Tasmania Police Charity Trust recently presented a cheque for 25-thousand dollars to the Down Syndrome Association of Tasmania.

The money was raised last November, by 29 cyclists who rode from Burnie to Hobart to raise funds for the association.

The ride was an initiative of Burnie-based Constable Richard Douglas, and was supported by the Charity Trust.

Cyclists started the 340-kilometre ride on Friday 23 November and completed the distance in three stages over two days.

The Charity Trust was established in December 2006, to provide the opportunity for police officers and State Service employees of the Department of Police and Emergency Management to work together towards a common goal of fundraising to support nominated charities within the State.

The cheque was handed to a representative of the Down Syndrome Association of Tasmania at the Burnie Police Headquarters.
