Business Projects Services (BPS)

Command
BPS is under the command of an Inspector of Police. The inspector is the Manager, BPS, and reports to the Director, Corporate Services.
Function
BPS is committed to assisting the Department to improve service to the Community through the achievement of Corporate priorities. Projects allocated to BPS are aimed at improving business processes and aligning technology and other resources to optimise police performance.
BPS provides systems analysis, business integration, change management, policy, legislation and quality review services. Business process reviews are undertaken with an aim to identify opportunities to improve current practices and procedures.
BPS plays a major role in the promotion and application of project management principles and practices across the Department. Central to the methodology applied is good governance. Appropriate documentation, coupled with an appreciation of the level of integration required, ensures that high standards of accountability and efficiency can be achieved.
CrimTrac
BPS is the central point of contact for CrimTrac, (www.crimtrac.gov.au) and is the co-coordinating body for the Department’s involvement with CrimTrac programmes.
CrimTrac is a major initiative being undertaken by the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, police jurisdictions and the providers of national common policing services to enhance police access to national policing information in Australia.
