In 2008 the only trophy competed for was that for Drum Major’s, which Tony Bidgood the Drum Major of the Tasmania Police Pipe Band won. Tasmania Police Pipe Band Scoop the Pool at St Andrew's Richmond Highland Gathering in 2007
The blistering heat of Sunday 18 February 2007 saw the Tasmania Police Pipe Band gather up all of the Band trophies at the St Andrew’s Richmond Pipe Band Competition at Richmond Recreation Ground, against stiff competition from four State bands and the Ingleburn RSL Pipe Band from New South Wales.
Pipe bands from throughout the state competed with appearances of both highland and country dancers. Approximately 1500 people attended this event.
The Tasmania Police Pipe Band, through the dedication of members drawn from across the State for their musical ability, won eight trophies. Richmond topped off a very busy week for the Police Band with the Police Graduation parade on Friday, training on Saturday and other performances across the weekend.
The age of the competitors, some of whom were as young as 11 years, illustrated that piping and drumming was strong and well in the State.
The Highland Gathering was moved onto the Village Green 3 years ago and has enjoyed the increased participation and interest of tourists, residents and supporters from across the State. The strong support of the Clarence City Council, for this event, guaranteed its longevity and increase in interest.
