Tasmania Police
Police Pipe Band - History
The Tasmania Police Pipe Band was formed in 1969. The band wears the Fletcher of Dunans Tartan in honor of the Commissioner of Police at the time Mr. P.W. Fletcher CBE, MVO, JP.

Performances have included:
International
- The Royal Tournament at Earl's Court in London - 1975;
- The Searchlight Tattoo at Colchester - 1975;
- The Edinburgh Military Tattoo (1975, 1984, 1989 and 2002);
- The Java St. Andrews Society Annual Highland Gathering in Jakarta - various dates;
- The Hawaii Scottish Highland Gathering in Honolulu - 1995;
- Vice-Regal Beating Retreat Ceremony with the bands of the Royal Hong Kong Police and the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police in the Crown Colony - 1996;
- New Plymouth Searchlight Tattoo - 1999; and
- Bay of Plenty International Tattoo, Rotorua New Zealand - 2008.

- Tasmania Military Tattoo - 1976 and 1977;
- Perth WA Sesquicentenary Tattoo;
- International Police Tattoo Adelaide - 1986, 2001, 2003;
- Australian Bicentennial Military Tattoo - 1988;
- Victorian and Australian Pipe Band championships.
- Anzac Day - 1988 The Tasmania Police Pipe Band was accorded the honour of playing at the dias before her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.;
- Tasmania Police Centenary - 1999;
The Band participated in the Tasmania Police Centenary celebrations, including a Police EXPO. The band hosted a Centenary Police Tattoo in Hobart and Launceston; - Angelsea Barracks Military Tattoo - 2004;
- Australian Federation Tattoo, Hobart - 2005; and
- Adelaide International Police Tatttoo - 2008.
The Band has participated in Australian Defence Force Beating Retreat ceremonies and Anniversary Concerts and is affiliated with 12th/40th Royal Tasmania Regiment (12/40 RTR) Hobart. The regimental badge of RTR, on a rosette of the Battalion's Blue and Black colours, is worn on members' kilts in recognition of the affiliation.
Other duties on the local scene include all Graduation parades at the Tasmania Police Academy, concerts and farewells for visiting cruise ships, Hobart and Launceston Christmas Pageants and other negotiated parades.
