Chigwell Fires and Incidents – Public Assistance Is Sought

Detectives interviewed a number of people regarding a series of fires and related incidents at Chigwell in mid-March 2008.

“Investigators are confident charges will be laid in respect to those matters in the very near future,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Rob King.

“As a result of investigations and assistance provided by the public in response to recent media coverage, investigators have reinvigorated enquiries into a fire and instances of shots being fired at residences in the area of Merton (near the Glenorchy tip) in July and August 2008.

"Like the Chigwell matters, police regard these as serious crimes.  Investigators believe they have identified those involved."

Police are encouraging further assistance from the public in relation to these matters and are keen to speak to anyone who may have information in relation to either matter.

Callers may be entitled to a reward of up to $2000 for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the offender/s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or their local police station.
