Disposal of Expired EPIRBs

Tasmania Police is reinforcing the message that all old and expired EPIRB models should be disposed of in a responsible manner by depositing them at nominated drop off points across the State.

On several occasions over recent months Tasmania Police has conducted searches for activated EPIRBs that have not been correctly disposed of.  These types of false alarm searches have the potential to divert resources away from real-life distress situations.

Across the State the following locations will accept unwanted or out of date EPIRBs:

South
Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST)
Battery World

North
Workplace Safety
CH Smith Marine

North West Coast
Deegan Marine - Ulverstone
Port Sorell Marine - Port Sorell
Coastal Marine - Somerset
