Tasmania Police Assistance in Bushfire Disaster

The Tasmania Police victim identification experts have joined Victorian experts, along with experts from around the nation, at the bushfire disaster forensic operations.  The officers will have the complex task of gathering forensic evidence to identify remains of those lost to the fires.

The bushfires' blazes destroyed hundreds of homes and claimed 173 lives, and it is expected the numbers will rise.

Tasmania Police expresses deep condolences to the families who lost their relatives and friends and offers sympathy to those whose homes were destroyed by the fires.
