Naming of New Police Vessel

The Tasmania Police Charity Trust was established in December 2006, to provide a vehicle for fundraising to support nominated charities, along with children and young people with specific needs, within this State. The Charity Trust allows for police officers and State Service employees of the Department of Police and Emergency Management to initiate and support fund rising activities.

With the commissioning of a new Police vessel, expected later this year, an opportunity existed for the naming of that vessel to be offered to the people of Tasmania who, for a gold coin donation, could put forward their suggested name. The competition was promoted through the media and total 176 entries were received raising $199.50 for the Charity Trust.

The process of selecting the name of the new vessel is currently underway and the winner will be announced.
