"Neil has remainded motivated by the support he has received from his manager and the assistance provided by the Department."

State Service Employee Admitted to Dean’s Roll of Excellence

A member of the Department of Police and Emergency Management (DPEM) has distinguished himself academically by being admitted to the Dean’s Roll of Excellence for the Faculty of Arts.

For Neil, this represents a significant achievement in his personal and professional life. The Roll of Excellence requires students to have maintained an average distinction grade or better. Only a small number of students achieve this standard and their performance is a testament to their abilities and the capacities of members of DPEM.

As a recipient of the Dean’s Roll of Excellence he is entitled to membership of the Golden Key International Honour Society and the privileges that entails.

Mr Neil Ward

Neil joined the Department in 2003 where he was part of the team that set-up and developed Criminal History Services. For the past two years Neil has been the Acting Supervisor of Operational Information Services (OIS), Operations Support and will shortly be taking on a new role as Acting Coordinator of the Information Services Division.

Neil holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Edinburgh University, and in 2007 he graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and International Relations. Neil is now undertaking a BA (Hons) in History.

Neil is continuing with his studies to further develop his academic and government report writing skills, and to gain a greater awareness of government structure.

Neil commented that he’s burnt a lot of “midnight oil” around assignment due dates and exam times, but has remained motivated by the support he has received from his manager and the assistance provided by the Department.

The Commissioner, Mr Jack Johnston, is very pleased to see employees of the Department gaining such prestigious awards.

“These awards are very well deserved, and the Department is happy to be able to provide encouragement, assistance and support to members to enable them to undertake tertiary education. “
