Policing Services
Policing services are structured into specialised areas and units that are located throughout the Tasmania Police districts. Tasmania Police officers are trained to obtain specialised skills to be able to perform duties within policing services units. Policing in Tasmania is often challenging, and a variety of police duties are performed on land, sea and in the air due to Tasmania being an island state.
The Department of Police and Emergency Management has a strategic focus on reducing the impact of crime, improving the level of public safety and traffic law compliance, and enforcing emergency management and security capabilities.
