Active shoplifter apprehended

On Monday 26 May 2015, Uniform police, targeting anti-social behaviour in the Launceston central business district, apprehended a 44 year old woman, from Brighton.

She was arrested, interviewed, charged and bailed after Police were alerted by retailers, that she had been shoplifting from businesses in the Mall, Launceston.

The vehicle being used by the woman was impounded by police.

Police located a significant number of items, including clothing and baby items, valued at approximately $3000, believed to be stolen from a number of stores around Launceston and Hobart, in the vehicle.

Some illicit drugs were also located.

All items will be returned to the retailers. There will be further investigation in regard to all matters.
