On Monday 25 April 2016 following an investigation by Southern Drug Investigation Services, a 33 year old man from Austins Ferry was arrested and subsequently charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Trafficking in Firearms, Aggravated Burglary, Burglary, Stealing a Firearm, Stealing, Breach of Family Violence Order and Breach of Interim Family Violence Order.

A 30 year old man also of Austins Ferry was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Burglary, Stealing a Firearm and Stealing.

The arrests follow a targeted operation into the alleged trafficking of methlyamphetamine and firearms.

Following the arrest of the males search warrants were executed at residences in Granton, Chigwell and Austins Ferry.

Both men will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court at 2.15pm today.
