Helicopter Missions – Waterfall Valley and Tinderbox Cliffs

On 17 December 2015 at approximately 8.30pm the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to attend Waterfall Valley in the Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair National Park for a bushwalker who was suffering from a medical condition.

The helicopter flew to the location and treated the 57 year old man at the scene before transporting him to Hobart.

Whilst travelling back to Hobart the helicopter was re-tasked an incident at Piersons Point near Tinderbox in the south of the State.

A 19 year old man had fallen approximately 10 metres down a cliff face whilst fishing in the area.

Paramedics were taken to the man via police vessels where he was stabilised at the scene.

The helicopter attended the location and winched the man from the area. He was transported to the RHH suffering multiple fractures.
