Hooning charge after Leavers’ Dinner

On Saturday 18 December 2010 police charged a 20 year old Newnham man with a hooning offence following an investigation into an incident reported in the Examiner newspaper last week.

The dangerous driving behaviour was captured on a number of cameras and videos at the Riverside High School Leavers’ Dinner. The driver responsible was not the owner of the vehicle.

Senior Sergeant Luke Moore of Northern Traffic said that it was fortunate people lining the footpaths weren’t injured, as the driver may have lost control of the vehicle.

He said police will investigate and where possible, charge drivers of motor vehicles who engage in reckless driving behaviour.

Tasmania Police encourages members of the public who witness this type of behaviour to report the matter to police with as much detail as possible.
