A man is in custody and a woman was placed in hospital overnight following a family violence incident yesterday afternoon at a shopping complex in Howrah.

The woman received injuries to her head and the side of her body which required medical attention.

The man was arrested at the scene.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Richardson of Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch said:

“The man was taken into custody and the woman was assisted by witnesses and personnel at the store before being transported to hospital.

“Police have been speaking to witnesses and staff and there is an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.

The man has been charged with 2 x breaching a family violence order and 1 x wounding.
