Man dies after two vehicle crash – Bass Highway, Latrobe

A 30 year old Spreyton man has died following a two vehicle crash on the Bass Highway, Latrobe, this morning.

 

Police attended the scene of the crash on the Bass Highway Latrobe between the intersection with Gilbert Street and the roundabout at Moriarty Road about 8.10am today.

 

A white Subaru Liberty traveling toward Devonport collided head on with an Australia Post truck travelling toward Launceston.

 

The driver of the Subaru sustained serious injuries in the crash and was provided first aid at the scene and conveyed to the Mersey Community Hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

 

The man was Christopher John Hall, 30, of Spreyton. Our thoughts are with Christopher’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

 

The driver of the truck, a 52 year old Launceston man, was physically uninjured and his truck extensively damaged.

 

Traffic was diverted from the crash scene and the section of the Bass Highway closed until about 3.15pm today.  Police would like to thank the public for their patience and assistance in relation to the incident.

 

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and ask anyone with information to contact them on 131444.
