Police call for witnesses to George Town crash

Police are calling for witnesses to a crash on Low Head Road in George Town on Tuesday night.

About 7.40 pm on Tuesday 5 December 2017 a green Chrysler Voyager station wagon was being driven north on Low Head Road in George Town by a 24 year old George Town woman.  The driver had her four young children in the vehicle at the time.

The vehicle was travelling at high speed when it entered a sweeping right hand bend on Low Head Road, when the driver lost control, travelling onto the incorrect side of the roadway to impact heavily with a hydro pole.  The pole was severed at its base as a result of the crash and power was cut to surrounding residences.

Several of the children had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency services.  All of the occupants were conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital.  At this stage it appears that only minor injuries were sustained.

Anyone who may have witnessed the green Chrysler station wagon before or at the time of the crash is asked to contact Northern Crash Investigation Service on 67773936 or by calling 131444.
