Man arrested over robberies at Westpac & Harris Scarfe, Moonah

At 1:23pm on Tuesday 24 May 2016, a man allegedly entered the Westpac branch on Main Road Moonah and demanded money before fleeing the scene.  A short time later the same male offender entered Harris Scarfe in Moonah and demanded money from a staff member prior to fleeing the store with an amount of money.

 

No weapon was produced during either incident and counselling has been offered to the affected staff members.

 

As a result of investigations conducted, a 47 year old male from Gagebrook was arrested at 8:00pm the same evening.  The man was interviewed and charged by detectives from Glenorchy CIB with one count of Attempted Robbery and one count of Robbery.

 

The man was detained for court and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at 11:00am on Wednesday 25 May 2016.
