Sage Court shooting, Bridgewater

Detective Inspector Craig Joel of Glenorchy CIB said: ‘Last night a man was shot in the head in brazen but targetted circumstances in Sage Court Bridgewater.  A shot was fired through the window’.

 

Detectives and forensic officers combed the area for evidence into the early hours of this morning.

 

A 54 year old man, who is known to police, was admitted to hospital but his condition is not life threatening.  The man lives at the address where the shooting occurred.

 

Detectives believe this is an ongoing dispute and there is no immediate threat to residents in Bridgewater.

 

Police will remain in the area today and step up patrols through the evening.

 

The man is speaking with police but the identity of the shooter is not yet known.

 

Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘Police have a focus on removing illicit and stolen guns out of the hands of criminals’.

 

Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘Operation Unification has removed thousands of unwanted and illicit guns out of the community, and our commitment to this objective will continue’.
