Serious Crash | Channel Highway, Gordon

Approximately 1pm on Sunday, 19th March, a serious crash occurred on the Channel Highway  at Gordon.

At that time a 24-year-old man from Verona Sands was riding a white and green Honda trail bike in a northerly direction on the Channel Highway.

He has overtaken a truck and has collided head on with a white Holden Sedan being driven in a southerly direction.  The Holden was being driven by a 63-year-old woman from New Zealand.  Also in the Holden was a 53-year-old woman, a 60 year-old-man and an 89-year-old man all from Queensland.

As a result of the collision the motor cyclist was thrown from his motor cycle.  He was treated at the scene by Ambulance personnel and transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious spinal injuries.  He is reportedly in a critical condition.

The driver of the Holden received chest injuries.  She was treated in hospital for minor injuries and subsequently released.  All other occupants were uninjured.
