Police have interviewed two boys, aged 11, who will be proceeded against under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act in relation to the fire at George Town on 2 January 2018.

The boys will also receive some education and advice from TFS and police.

Inspector Michael Johnston said:

“It’s clear that the boys did not mean to cause the damage that they did.

“While the fire was deliberately lit, they did try to put it out and did not mean for it to spread.

“It’s a timely reminder of the importance of speaking to children about safe fire behaviour,” he said.
