Search and Rescue members on board the Westpac Rescue Helicopter this afternoon rescued a 15-year-old boy from flood waters at Tynwald Park, New Norfolk.

Due to the speed and depth of flood waters, SES and police ground crews were unable to rescue him, resulting in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter being dispatched.

A Tasmania Police Search and Rescue officer winched the youth into the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

He suffered mild hypothermia but was otherwise uninjured.
