Expressions of Interest to join Tasmania Police are now open

Tasmania Police has today opened Expressions of Interest for people wishing to become police officers.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) opened at midday today (Monday, 8 September 2014) and will be accepted until the end of November when the numbers received will be reviewed.

In April this year Expressions of Interest were opened for two weeks and 685 were received.

Those who pass the eight-step selection process will start their course in March 2015 and graduate October, 2015.

By 2018, Tasmania Police will build its numbers of officers to 1,228 from the current figure of 1,120.

Submitting an Expression of Interest is the first step of several in applying to become a police officer.

There is a very thorough selection process whereby applicants must pass a series of suitability tests before they are invited to join.

This helps ensure we get the right people with the right attitude who will embrace the values of Tasmania Police.

Those wishing to submit an Expression of Interest are asked to do so via the Join Us section of the Tasmania Police website.

The application process involves eight steps including background checks, fitness and suitability tests and medical checks.

Tasmania Police currently has 1,120 officers. One recruit course graduates in December 2014 and the other in February 2015.
