Tasmania Police wishes to inform the public to exercise extreme caution due to high winds and rain in the North of the state.

At this time the public are advised to avoid any unnecessary travel and ensure loose items around their homes are secured if safe to do so.

Emergency Services are currently busy responding to a high volume of incidents as a result of the extreme weather.

The main issues at this stage are falling trees, roofing, power failures and flooding.

There are numerous current road closures and the public are advised to look at the Tasmania Police website – Community Alerts.

The public is advised that the North of the state will be subject to more extreme weather until the early hours of tomorrow morning.
