Boxing Contests

Section 82 of the Criminal Code Act 1924 prohibits prize fights, except where authorised by the Commissioner of Police. Section 49B of the Police Offences Act 1935 empowers the Commissioner of Police, with the consent of the Minister, to regulate public entertainment including boxing.

Application should be lodged with the relevant District Commander for recommendation to the Commissioner of Police.
