Application for a Permit to Acquire a Firearm

A permit to acquire a firearm may only be granted after 28 days following the day on which the application is lodged. Transfer of possession of the firearm must take place in the presence of a licensed dealer in firearms. A permit is in force from the date of its issue for a period of 90 days or until the date on which the firearm is acquired.

Applications may be lodged at any Service Tasmania outlet or sent to Firearms Services (GPO Box 1264, Hobart TAS 7001) with the relevant fee.

Applicants must sign the application in the presence of the receiving officer.
