Police Academy
The Tasmania Police Academy is located on Hobart’s Eastern Shore in Rokeby, 19km from the CBD. The training facility is set on 29 hectares and overlooks Ralph's Bay. The Tasmania Police Academy was officially opened on March 6, 1976 by the Honourable W A Neilson MHA, Premier of Tasmania.
The police academy provides modern live-in and course facilities that were upgraded in 2003. The facilities include; modern classrooms, computer laboratory, access to well equipped sport facilities including squash courts and gymnasium. Accommodation is of contemporary design consisting of comfortable rooms with ensuite facilities. Dining and social areas provide an inviting environment for trainees, academy staff and visiting family members.
The police academy is used for specialist training for police officers and state service personnel training. The police academy is an important community asset and is used by schools, community groups and other public sector organisations.
The Tasmania Police Academy is recognised as a leading training facility. Training instructors and staff are highly experienced in the delivey of training. The Academy has witnessed many graduations of fine police officers who successfully embarked on career not just within Tasmania Police, but also in other national and international jurisdictions.
