General Requirements

In general, we are looking for a person who is mature, honest, ethical and sets high personal standards. You may be currently studying at university, seeking a career direction change or just exiting college and are now looking for a rewarding career. Tasmania Police are now recruiting and can assist you in your decision.

Interstate applicants are welcome to apply. Serving police officers from interstate or ex-police officers may be able to access a fast track entry and training program. 

To qualify for selection you must be

    • a minimum age of 18 years
    • an Australian citizen or full time resident
    • of above average level of fitness
    • classed as medically fit after a full examination
    • issued with a manual driver's licence
    • able to undertake academic studies
    • able to achieve senior first aid certificate and a Police Rescue Award (RLSSA)
    • willing to be posted anywhere in the State and
    • classed as suitable following a background security and integrity check.
