General Requirements

In general, we are looking for a person who is mature, honest, ethical and sets high personal standards. You may be currently studying at university, seeking a career direction change or just exiting college and are now looking for a rewarding career. Tasmania Police are now recruiting and can assist you in your decision.

A different day, every day…

Being a police officer with Tasmania Police is diverse and challenging.  While it can be unpleasant at times, it is rewarded in the job satisfaction involved with providing assistance to the community, helping victims, and resolving issues and problems.  It offers challenge, diversity, career advancement, security and incentive.

The Police Service certainly offers an exciting career and competitive salary package.  In fact, nothing else compares.

The Police Award outlines salary and allowances for members of Tasmania Police and can be accessed via the internet www.pat.asn.au.

The selection process involves Police Employment Examinations including a Job Suitability Test, fitness test, suitability assessment exercises (including role-playing), panel interview, integrity testing and medical examinations.

Selection is based on many factors including merit, performance, academic ability, organisational needs, and strength of your application.  Applicants are also compared against other applicants involved in the selection processes.

There are approximately three recruit training courses each year, over 32 weeks, with 20 trainees in each.

Tasmania Police is recruiting now.  Don't miss this opportunity.

To qualify for selection you must be:

  • A minimum age of 18 years;
  • An Australian citizen or full time resident;
