Tasmania Police
Selection
Prior to being able to sit the Police Employment Examinations you must complete a full application. The Tasmania Police Trainee Information Package contains an Application Form with full information about entrance and application processes, including advice on how to complete the application.
Applicants are encouraged to read the package in full.
Applicants intending to make application should make every effort to research the nature of duties and role of the front line police officer and are encouraged to:
- Read the Department of Police and Emergency Management Strategic Directions Framework and the Business Plan for the current year; and
- Speak with police officers known to them, local police or staff at the Tasmania Police Recruiting Office to explore and understand the role of the police officer and nature of duties undertaken.
At the conclusion of the application and assessment stages, successful selection is based upon merit and is very competitive. Strengths of written applications, standards of performance during the assessment stage, commitment to achievement, demonstrated skills in the Essential Criteria and other varying factors are considered by the police Selection Board.
Poor driving standards or behaviour, court convictions, low professional and ethical standards or poor physical fitness is likely to contribute to rejection of your application at any stage.
The speed at which your application is progressed depends on many various factors. You should not compare the progress of your application with the previous progression of other applicants you may know of.
