Motorists Are Urged To Take Care On The Road

Motorists are urged to be alert and slow down especially if they are living in areas known for ice and snow.

Tasmania Police advise motorists that wet road surfaces reduce the braking and cornering performance of tyres by 25-33%, and therefore allowances must be made in relation to following distances and cornering speeds.  Icy surfaces are capable of further significant reduction in tyre performance, and motorists should take the utmost care on road surfaces that are not dry.

Motorists are advised to listen for weather updates and pay attention to warnings issued by Police.
