Bush Watch

What is Bush Watch?

Bush Watch is a community-based crime prevention program aimed at the prevention and detection of offences both on public and private land. The initiative encourages forest users to report suspicious criminal activity and vandalism to the Police and also makes forest users more aware of the consequences of their actions when in the bush. The program covers a range of criminal activity including detection of marijuana crops, theft of flora and fauna, criminal damage, vandalism and unlawfully setting fire to property or bush.

When you provide information to Bush Watch you don't have to give your name and any information that leads to an arrest and conviction can earn a reward. You can help to keep the bush safe for everyone to use.

The objectives of Bush Watch are to:

  • Encourage the reporting of unusual or suspicious criminal activities and vandalism to police;
  • Encourage the locking of vehicles and the securing of equipment and valuables, including engraving property with personal drivers licence numbers prefixed by the letter T;
  • Creating awareness of flora and fauna offences;
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of drug crops; and
  • Reduce the incidence of damage to public and private property.
