The Minister for Police and Emergency Management, Jim Cox, recently announced that Roberts Real Estate was entering into a $30,000 sponsorship of Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania.
Mr Cox said the two-year agreement would provide a valuable boost for the Neighbourhood Watch program.
“Neighbourhood Watch is a community organisation driven by hundreds of committed volunteers who put their time and effort into the organisation to ensure that the program is promoted to the wider community.
“Obviously, there is a cost attached to this hard work, and this sponsorship by Roberts Real Estate will ensure the good work of Neighbourhood Watch Members will continue into the future.
“There is little doubt that Neighbourhood Watch is one of the most well recognised faces of crime prevention across Tasmania.
“Through programs such as property marking and graffiti prevention and removal, Neighbourhood Watch will be able to utilise the Roberts Real Estate sponsorship to continue the fight against crime and maintain Tasmania as the Safest State in the Nation.”
Mr Cox said the State was extremely appreciative of the efforts Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania had made over many years to improve not only the safety but also the quality of life for all Tasmanians.
“Neighbourhood Watch began in Tasmania in 1986 with the first watch being established at Lindisfarne.
“It now has boasts 54 active watches around the State and continues to actively recruit new areas and members.”
Mr Cox said the aim of Neighbourhood Watch had remained constant over the years to reduce crime by encouraging a sense of community worth, and maintaining dialoguebetween neighbours which ultimately led to a safer community for all Tasmanians.
“I commend Roberts Real Estate on this sponsorship arrangement, which will help Neighbourhood Watch assist both Tasmania Police and the State Government ensure Tasmania remains the safest state in the country,” Mr Cox said.
