Australasian Policing Strategy On The Prevention And Reduction Of Family Violence

The reduction of family violence is an Australasian policing priority.

As community leaders, the Australasian Police Commissioners will not tolerate family violence and are committed to protecting all victims.

Whilst each jurisdiction has developed or is developing comprehensive responses, such as Safe at Home in Tasmania, to prevent and deal with community violence, the Australasian Police Commissioners have today released the Australasian Policing Strategy on the Prevention and Reduction of Family Violence to signal the commencement of a coordinated and comprehensive response to reduce and prevent family violence.

This Strategy will ensure responses by Australasian jurisdictions are based on more consistent policies and practices. The Strategy outlines priorities for action, a commitment to evidence-based strategies with a key priority on improving early intervention strategies and programs, systems of information and intelligence sharing between police, and between our partnership agencies.
