Harvey Norman Christmas Appeal

The Tasmania Police Charity Trust was appreciative to be once again nominated as one of the major beneficiaries of the annual Harvey Norman Christmas Appeal.
In previous year’s the Appeal has only been conducted in the north of the State, but this year  Harvey Norman franchisees decided that the Appeal should go state-wide. The Appeal attracted the generosity of many people in the community, with many gifts collected.
Members of Tasmania Police and the public also delivered gifts to the office of the Tasmania Police Charity Trust, and these gifts were combined with the Harvey Norman Appeal gifts.  A coordinated approach to the collection and distribution of the gifts was then organised by the Tasmania Police Victim Safety Response Teams from each police division.  Each Victim Safety Response Team collected the gifts on behalf of the Tasmania Police Charity Trust and distributed the gifts to Family Violence Counselling Services and Migrant Resource Centres, prior to Christmas.  A particular family violence crisis shelter in the west of the State was extremely pleased to have been thought of in this way at Christmas.  The other crisis centres who were recipients of the gifts also expressed their gratitude.
We wish to extend our appreciation to all Harvey Norman franchisees who supported this successful initiative which assisted families in need prior to Christmas.
The Tasmania Police Charity Trust look forward to continuing this initiative in 2011.
