#13 – Stop doesn’t mean slow down

#13 – Tuesday, 21 March 2017 – Stop doesn’t mean slow down

Traffic Tuesday graphic STOP

Don’t be that person… Stop – it means just that!

Stop Signs: “Stop doesn’t mean slow down.” If you face a Stop Sign you have to stop. Stop signs are placed at high risk intersections and drivers approaching one must come to a complete stop. If you roll at a slow pace past a stop sign and you’re intercepted by police you face a fine of 3 demerit points and $140.

Stop Lines at traffic signals: “Why are you parked over the stop line – there is no such thing as a head start at an intersection.” Stop lines at intersections are placed in a way as to allow safe movement of pedestrians and turning vehicles. Crossing or creeping over the stop line at an intersection controlled by a red light is not acceptable and if police intercept you doing it you face a fine of 3 demerit points and $140.
