Country Club / LAFM Golf Day

The Tasmania Police Charity Trust, in conjunction with Country Club Tasmania and LAFM, hosted the annual Northern Charity Golf Day in November 2011 to raise funds for Heartkids Tasmania.

Thirty six teams entered (108 players) and with a band of 15 volunteers (Police, Lions Club and Heart Kids Tasmania) a fantastic day was had by all, despite overcast conditions at various times, and several downpours.

A total of $7,210 was raised from the event.

  • First place was House in Launceston who won 1 nights accommodation for 2 and a round of golf at Country Club Tasmania for each player.
  • Second place went to Island Block & Paving with each player winning a vaccum cleaner donated by Harvey Norman.
  • Third place was won by Island Batteries who won a sports bag package donated by TOTE.

The overall sponsorship prize valued at $1,950 and donated by LAFM was won by Northern Tasmania Football Association (NTFA).

Senior Sergeant John Parker of the Tasmania Police Charity Trust said that it was the fifth Annual Golf Day that the Tasmania Police Charity Trust had been involved with in the North and the day was played in the great spirit that all Charity Golf days are held.  “It was a fantastic event and the generosity of our sponsors and players made sure that we raised significant monies for Heartkids Tasmania”.

Kylie Smith of HeartKids Tasmania said that families with children with serious heart issues face significant financial pressures as a result of having to travel interstate for treatment.  She said “having the Tasmania Police Charity Trust assisting us in this way has been fantastic, and Heartkids Tasmania are extremely appreciative of their support, and those who sponsored the day”.
