Aggravated Burglary and Stealing charges

A 24-year-old New Town man, has been charged with Aggravated Burglary, Stealing and a number of driving related offences following an incident at a Sandy Bay residence in the early hours of Sunday morning.   At the time an Aston Martin car was stolen from home, however was recovered later that same day following information received from members of the public in Moonah.

The man had entered the Sandy Bay residence while the occupants were at home asleep and removed the keys to the car.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or the movements of the Aston Martin in the early hours of Sunday morning is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au

“In this instance we are fortunate to have been able to recover the vehicle, in a timely manner,” said Detective Acting Inspector Penny Reardon.

“We would however like to reiterate the importance of home and vehicle security.

“When possible your home should be locked and secured at night even when you are at home and all valuables should be stored out of sight, including handbags, car keys and wallets.

“The easy-get is a handbag, wallet or set of keys sitting in plain view of a window or door and that is what would-be thieves are looking for,” she said.
