Rendering chemicals safe following search of South Hobart property

Police advise that there will be a controlled explosion of legal chemicals seized following a search of a South Hobart property overnight.

“Nearby residents have been temporarily relocated until the scene is cleared as a precaution,” Detective Acting Inspector Darren Latham said.

“We’d like to let members of the public know there may be some activity in the area this afternoon, including loud noises, while police safely dispose of some chemicals in a nearby open paddock, but there’s no cause for alarm.

“There is no threat to the community and members of the public are asked to avoid the area as a precaution.”

A 28 year old man is assisting police with their inquiries.
