SES issue advice over Severe Weather Warning

The SES has issued advice following a Bureau of Meteorology Severe Weather Warning about high winds and abnormally high tides expected at various locations across the State later this evening and tomorrow.

 

Locations which may be affected by high winds include Devonport, St Helens, Swansea, New Norfolk, Hobart and Dover.

 

Locations which may be affected by abnormally high tides include Hobart, Dover and Dodges Ferry.

 

The SES continues to monitor the weather situation state-wide. For specific weather warnings refer to www.bom.gov.au; and for advice please visit the SES website www.ses.tas.gov.au.

 

 

Noting the potential weather effects above, the SES advises people to:

 

  • Beware of damaged trees and power lines, due to the saturated ground, trees may fall under these conditions
  • Beware of dangerous road conditions
  • Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment (i.e. trampolines are a frequent issue in high winds)
  • Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings
  • Manage pets and livestock
  • Be prepared in case of power outages
  • Do not walk or drive through flood waters
